The most adorable baby ever….

Last weekend I went to see my sister and I new every day when I was over in
Vancouver and she is the most adorable baby ever! (Until I have my own of course!) I got to visit her every day in the nursery. I can’t believe how tiny preemies are… I forget that I was 3 lbs 13 oz myself. When I was there on Friday night there was a baby in an incubator next to her and when I got there the next day she was in a bassinet. It is so awesome too see these babies make progress. My niece has a bit of an infection and needs IV antibiotics. When I was there on Sunday she had a new neighbour that was just born and I got to see them role the mother in on a stretcher as she had just had a C-section and it was amazing watching this women fall in love with her baby for the first time. I would imagine it was the first time she had seen her other than a quick glance in the OR. I can’t wait for the day that I get to have my own baby. I’ll leave you with this…

Presenting my neice

I would like to introduce to you the newest addition to my family, My neice Baby A. She made her entrance to this world on April 30, 2007 at 3:45pm after giving her mom less than 1 hour of labor start to finish! Needless to say I didn’t make in time for the birth.

Baby Shayla

On a side note, I had written my previous post before she was born, but never got around to posting it until later.

Carrie Underwood unravelled…

The other day  I was listening to The Beat 94.5‘s morning show with Kid Carson and Nira Arora on my way into work from the ferry. This show drives me absolutely nuts! Just the lack of intellectual topics that they cover is enough to make me change stations, but once in awhile they will have something worth listening to, or make you wait to hear. Kid and Nira are the biggest procrastinators. Like this morning they decided to analyze the lyrics of Carrie Underwood’s ‘Before He Cheats’ and they just tore that thing to shreds. I just love how all of the top 40 stations are jumping on the band wagon for this song as it is just climbing the charts and so quickly. If anyone decided to open their ears a little and flip a radio station that may have noticed this song a long time ago on a country station. I was in love with this song well before it even made it big on the country charts. I remember listening to this song on JRFM‘s song battle thingy that they have where 2 songs go head-to-head and the listeners call in a vote. For whatever reason unknown to me, this song didn’t win and was put on the back burner for awhile and this was last fall!

What really pisses me off is that Kid Carson would play a line of the song and analyze it. The 1st one being

Right now he’s probably slow dancing with a bleach blonde tramp,
and she’s probably getting frisky…

He goes on to say that first of all this Shania song and insinuating that she is a stupid girl for being with a guy like this. Another set of lyrics he analyzed was:

Right now, he’s probably up behind her with a pool-stick, showing her how to shoot a combo…

Kid goes on to say “What’s a combo?” I mean common who doesn’t know what a combo is? You don’t have to be a pool shark to know this. With reference to Carrie he said “If you asked her what a combo was, she would probably say a big mac and a medium fries…” This guy is the dumbest radio personality I have ever heard and I can’t see why Vancouverites like this kind of crap. Which doesn’t say a lot about Vancouverites intellectual state of being. I am not going to start claiming that I am genius or anything but there must be better stuff out there to fill your mornings with on your commute to work people. Then you get Nira being the little champion saying how this song is every girls anthem. My favorite part is that at the end when he starts saying her name with a mock southern twangs insinuating that because she is southern she is redneck. He also goes on to say she is one bad as chick and not to be messed with, if he bothered to read her myspace page he would know that it is just a song and she says

I also feel like I should have a disclaimer on one of the songs. You may already know that Im talking about Before He Cheats. This song was so different than the others. I decided to sing it because I think that everyone has a mean streak, and the character in the song has a very large one. I would like to say, however, that I do not condone the destruction of anyones property and I have never, at any time, keyed anyones car.

This radio personality drives up the wall and I wish he had more concrete things to talk about than ripping apart a great artist.
